President's Message to you.....
There are many building blocks to life. One is health. We have nothing without our health. Our health is the "Foundation" of our lives, both personally and professionally. Our health is controlled or affected by numerous things. Exercise, along with foods we eat, experiences we have, stresses of our personal and professional lives, our faith and happiness, all have a place in our life.
The good news is that it is easy to get a lot more out of life. With a healthy exercise we can improve the overall quality of our life minimising the aches, pains and frailty that plague inactive folks in their later years of their life. We just need to do it.
Studies have shown that people who engage in physical activity during their leisure time live as much as 4.5 years longer than their sedentary counterparts. And the more you exercise, the longer you're likely to live. Beyond physical benefits, exercise is good for your sense of well being. Activity prompts the release of endorphins and other feel-good chemicals in your brain, encouraging happiness while fighting depression.
Exercise helps the body to extend life through improvement of cardiovascular health. Aerobic activities like walking, jogging and swimming are shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, which is the number-one killer of both men and women. Exercise also helps maintain a healthy weight that may prevent diabetes. Weight-bearing activities that include walking and running help build bone density for reduced osteoporosis risk, which in turn reduces the risk of dangerous fractures.
